SPONSORS
Welcome to the Eagle Promise Charitable Fund. As our charitable projects evolve we will continue to complete sections of the web site that are currently a work-in-progress. We invite you to bookmark this page and revisit our web site often for informational updates and additional giving opportunities.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund will engage in a variety of activities to promote and advance the educational opportunities and experiences of the youth, amateur, and recreational sports programs of the Hedgesville School System. The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund Board of Directors will announce annually the project or projects it will be supporting as well as the post-graduate scholarship awards that will be available for the next fiscal year.

The EPCF and its Board of Directors will also be looking to create educational opportunities in the classroom for hands-on learning by students utilizing cutting edge technologies. Money to support these classroom educational opportunities and initiatives will come from specific grants for the development and implementation of these special program initiatives.

In 2007 the EPCF in coordination with the West Virginia Division of Forestry (WVDOF) secured a two year grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service – Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry to support the West Virginia Firewise Classroom Project. The West Virginia Firewise Classroom Project is currently being carried out at Hedgesville High School. More information as to the specifics of the WV Firewise Classroom Project at HHS can be found under the banner of News, Events, and FAQ section of the web-site. WV Firewise Classroom Project at HHS.

VISION STATEMENT

The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund will annually support specific projects along with post-graduate scholarship opportunities for former HHS student-athletes. The supported projects can include, but are not be limited to, all areas related to the individual sports activities sponsored by the Hedgesville School System.

Below are listed specific areas within those sports activities that The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund will consider for support:

  • athletic facilities (new and renovated);

  • athletic equipment needs;

  • educational opportunities for the coaching staffs and the youth athletes (coaching clinics and youth camps);

  • financial support for individuals (student-athletes) who have a demonstrated financial need for sport(s) participation activity fees levied by either the state or the school system (within the rules of both the NCAA and the State of West Virginia’s Secondary Schools Activities Commission rules and regulations). This will enable individual student-athletes to participate in sports-sponsored programs without being denied access because of a lack of the needed financial resources to pay participation activity fees. (This area for financial support has not become a need in the State of West Virginia at this time. It is however a need in other parts of the country where families have to pay a sports activity fee for each sport played for each family member on a team. The EPCF will initiate this area of support if it becomes an area of concern to the Hedgesville School System).

Below are listed the specific post-graduate scholarship offerings that will be offered to former HHS student-athletes once the scholarship endowment fund(s) have been fully funded. (At this time we do not have any scholarship endowments in place. Our goal is to have post-graduate scholarship endowments in place by 2010). The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund will be supporting two types of post-graduate scholarship aid offerings.

  • The first scholarship offerings will be the Eagle Promise Scholarship(s) which will be sponsored by the EPCF. The Eagle Promise Charitable Fund will raise monies which will be placed in an Eagle Promise endowed scholarship fund. Once a minimum of $5000 has been accumulated in the fund the EPCF will award its first scholarship. The EPCF post-graduate scholarships will be awarded annually. As additional increments of $5000 accumulate in the EPCF Scholarship Fund more scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis.
  • The second scholarship offerings will be individually named post-graduate scholarship awards funded in at least $5000 increments established and named for individuals, companies, and corporations.

All post-graduate scholarship offerings will go to former HHS student-athletes. The EPCF will work with each individually named scholarship donor wishing to establish a named scholarship fund in the name of an individual, company, or corporation. The application process as well as the criteria for each of the scholarship awards will be established by a scholarship sub-committee of the EPCF.  The scholarship sub-committee will consist of members of the EPCF, individual scholarship donors or sponsors, and HHS teachers and administrators. Once the scholarship’s application process and the criteria have been established it will be published on the Eagle Promise Charitable Fund web-site.
